The Help to Buy scheme is great way to get on to the property ladder – it’s an equity loan from the government for any new home up to the price of £600,000. The government lends you up to 20% of the cost of your newly built home, so you’ll only need a 5% cash deposit and a 75% mortgage to make up the rest. You won’t be charged fees on the government loan for the first five years of owning your home.
Tom Hamilton, New Homes Sales Manager, said: “The Help to Buy scheme is great for first time buyers but many people don’t realise that it is also available for anyone who doesn’t currently own a property at the time of completion. We’ve seen an increase in people buying with the scheme.”
