Moving to a coastal location is high up on many people’s bucket lists and here at Mishon Mackay we can appreciate why.
With over 100 miles of coastline on your doorstep and a national park just a stone’s throw away, coastal cities and towns like Brighton, Rottingdean, Hove and Portslade are big hits with families, young professionals and retirees.
Over the last 12 months we have seen demand for coastal properties surge. From couples looking to move out of London, to young families looking for homes in their dream locations, the coastal property market is a competitive one.
With more than 90% of our team calling the South Coast home, here are some of the reasons why:
Jobs
Just about anywhere is commutable within the South East and there is a raft of fast-growing businesses that call this area home. From marketing and tech, to healthcare and manufacturing, there are an abundance of jobs in nearby locations. And if the capital’s still calling, plenty of people commute by train every day.
Infrastructure
With great road, rail and air networks nearby it’s easy to travel whether it’s for work, family or an international adventure. If you enjoy a quiet pace of life in a coastal village or want to be in the hustle and bustle of a city like Brighton, there’s no need to worry about access as this area of the UK is well connected.
Education
For those considering bringing up a family, the South Coast offers some of the best schools and colleges in the country. With plenty of homes offering outdoor space and within walking distance to a range of good schools, it’s clear to see why so many families are setting down their roots in seaside locations.
The seaside’s calling
Most recently we helped the star of Grace, John Simm, and his wife Kate, make the move from London down to the South Coast after they fell in love with the area when visiting friends. Kate shared:
“There’s something about the South Coast that got us hooked. It is fantastic knowing that we are a stone’s throw away from the sea but that there’s also always something new to see and do close by. Mishon Mackay helped us find our perfect home and we can’t wait to carry on exploring and make the most of being in this fantastic location.”
Steve Neocleous, Business Development Director at Mishon Mackay added:
“Searches for properties on the South Coast are increasing tremendously, especially those close to the sea. With remote working set to continue for many, people are capitalising on this opportunity that enables them to move closer to the sea where they can benefit from a strong work life balance. Cities like Brighton continue to draw the crowds whilst quieter spots along the coast like Rottingdean and Portslade are seeing an increase in demand and tend to have a little bit more space.”
