In June 2022, the government released information about the ‘Rental Reform’ as part of the wider Levelling Up agenda that promises to transform the UK’s social and economic standards.
The whitepaper titled ‘A Fairer Private Rented Sector‘ sets out a number of changes to be made with the guiding principle that ‘everyone has the right to a decent home’.
The new document is extremely detailed and often referred to as the new ‘legally binding standard of decency’ so our Lettings Director, Jordan Tupper, has broken down some of the key changes that will be implemented in the rental market, focusing on how this will impact both landlords and renters across the UK.
- Periodic tenancies
- Section 21 changes
- Section 8 changes
- The introduction of a Private Renters Ombudsman
While this might be a time filled with questions and concerns, we are confident that there are a number of positive changes that will have a great impact to the private rental sector. However, we would encourage you to get in touch with our team of friendly industry professionals should you have any questions or concerns.
