As part of our ‘£25,000 for 25 years’ we held a golf day on Friday 12th October 2012.

What a fantastic day it was! Myself, Alex Mackay, Deirdre Lythe, Marc Cox, Tina Wenham, Sarah McCarthy and Barbara Mishon arrived at 7.30am to set up, it had been raining all night but was dry when we arrived!

Soon after the golfers started to arrive, everyone was in good spirits and excited to get started! Bacon rolls and coffee were served and then everyone headed off to their starting point.

Shortly after 9 the klaxon sounded and the competition began!

Deirdre and Barbara manned the club house whist myself, Tina and Sarah headed to the 17th hole, where we held  the ‘nearest the pin’ competition! Each and every team took part, putting hands in their pockets to help us raise money for our three charities. Marc set the standard with his shot landing on the green! Marc ended up being in the top five golfers for nearest the pin and won himself a bottle of bubbly.

The heavens did open shortly after t-off but this by no means dampened anyone’s spirits and everyone carried on and completed their 18 holes.

Shortly after 2 we headed back to the club house and tucked into lunch.

Very pleased to announce that the winning team was made up by our very own Damien Dunford and Adam Spencer (with a little bit of help from their friends!). Big well done to the Four Horseman!

We all raised a toast to the inspiration behind the day, Glenn, who was the only person missing from an amazing day. The prizes were presented, whilst everyone enjoyed a drink.

Big well done to Marc who took over the organising of the day when Glenn’s health meant he needed to hand over the huge task of arranging the day. Marc did a sterling job and organised a flawless event.

I am over the moon to announce that the day raised just over £2000! A fantastic effort and another big step towards that £25,000 target.

Big thanks to all of the teams for supporting us, without you, this year wouldn’t be possible.
