The best family-friendly events in Sussex this summer


As summer holidays roll around, it’s that time of year when all parents start the search for things to keep the whole family entertained. Thankfully, there’s plenty to keep every member of the family occupied during the summer months, and as Sussex experts, with over 30 years’ experience of the county, we’ve compiled a list of our favourites.




The Maize Maze, Tulleys Farm

A summer favourite year-on-year, the Tulleys Farm Maize Maze is a great day out for all the family. Every year reveals an exciting new theme, and once you’ve found your way out, there’s plenty of other activities to enjoy. You can enjoy all of the summer treats Tulleys Farm has to offer from 22nd July to 3rd September.

Drusillas Park

From visits with Hello Kitty to creepy crawly experiences, Drusillas, as always, has a range of fun events and activities for explorers and nature lovers alike. There’s always plenty of exciting events going on throughout the summer months, and a visit to the animals is something that can be enjoyed by all.


One of Sussex’s biggest and best airshows, Airbourne always promises to be a spectacle of the skies and something a bit different for all the family to enjoy. Set on Eastbourne’s stunning seafront, the show boasts incredible stunts and acrobatics from some of the world’s best fliers. You can also expect stunning ground displays, live music and fireworks, all for free! You can catch it 17th-20th August.

Into the Wild Festival

With a whole range of workshops, performances and activities to enjoy, Into the Wild Festival is the perfect weekend activity. Located near Hever Castle in the stunning Sussex countryside, it’s the perfect getaway close to home, taking place 25th-28th August.

Worthing Rotary Carnival

The Worthing Rotary Carnival has been going since 1921, making it one of the UK’s oldest carnivals. This year’s promises a medieval theme, along with live music, parades, a big top and plenty of food and drink. Don’t miss a perfect fun-packed day at Worthing’s Steyne Gardens on 27th and 28th August.

Brighton’s Big Screen

Brighton’s Big Screen on the Beach is back again, showing family favourites throughout July and August, and offers a perfect summer take on a family movie night. There really is something for everyone, with a different movie showing every night, so take a look at the calendar and make sure to grab your popcorn!
