The Glenn Mishon Charity Golf Day 2018

16/07/2018

The Glenn Mishon Charity Golf Day took place at The Dyke Golf Club in Brighton on Friday. The event is held every year to remember Mishon Mackay’s Glenn Mishon, and to raise money for local charities he supported. This year’s event saw our best turnout yet with 27 teams and a whopping 108 golfers, all coming together to play golf and help support our chosen charity, Rockinghorse, who support sick children in Sussex. The day was sponsored by Sussex Mortgage Services and RHL.

Alex Mackay, Managing Director of Mishon Mackay, said: “This is our fifth consecutive year of holding our Glenn Mishon Charity Golf Day. The weather was fantastic, there was a great standard of golf and it was a pleasure to be a part of this day in memory of a man who is missed by so many.”

It was a beautiful sunny day and everyone was in great spirits, excited to see who would win. We had teams from across Sussex, including staff at Mishon Mackay, as well as other local contractors, firms and property professionals.

After a long morning of playing golf, everyone gathered round for lunch and drinks.

After lunch, Ryan Heal, CEO of Rockinghorse gave a touching speech about the work that the charity does in Sussex. Speaking about the event, he said: “To be the charity partner for the Mishon Mackay Golf Day is a huge honour for Rockinghorse. Last year the charity celebrated its 50th birthday, whilst Mishon Mackay celebrated 30 years of service to Sussex. So, to have these two Sussex institutions working together side by side is great to see. Funds raised from the Golf Day will be going towards our ongoing projects at The Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, and the High Dependency Unit in particular, in our quest to purchase a new life saving ventilator for them.  Thank you to all involved in making this event a great success, especially Marc Cox and his team who were the driving force behind it. We very much look forward to working with you again soon.”

Marc Cox, Director at Mishon Mackay organised the event and hosted an auction with lots of incredible gifts donated by our sponsors.  This was followed with prizes from the day.

The overall winners of the Glenn Mishon Memorial Cup, with a score of 102 points were Heb Bailey, Myles Ahwal, Toby Hill and Jack Watson from Bell-Air Management. Congratulations!

It was a fantastic day where we raised lots of money for charity. Marc explained why this annual event is so important to him: “It’s my way of delivering something positive from Glenn’s death which hit us all very hard, especially the Hove team at the time as we all worked with Glenn. He was such a motivational and inspirational character with a great sense of humour.”

A huge thank you goes to our friends at Sussex Mortgage Services, and RHL who sponsored the event, as well as those who donated their time, money and prizes to such a worthy charity. Here at Mishon Mackay, we think it’s extremely important to support our local community. We have also committed to supporting Rockinghorse again at next year’s charity golf day.
