75 Holland Road was built in 1893 to the designs of Thomas Lainson as the magnificent annexe to the Palmeira House Stores. The building consisted of five floors and included lock-up depositories for furniture, a strong room for plates, wine cellars and general warehouses. At the rear were stables and van houses. A faded painted panel still exists on the south façade of the building which reads ‘Palmeira House, Warehouse and Stores’.   
It was built in the latest fashion of red brick with lavish terracotta dressings and ornaments, steeply pitched mansard roofs and wrought-iron parapets. The vast wooden doors have 35 studded panels above which are four lines of decorative iron panels with a Tudor rose at the centre of a St Andrew’s cross. The Tudor rose/St Andrew’s cross motif is a reference to Hove’s old coat of arms and is repeated all over the façade, even on the iron downpipe fixings. Above the main door is a terracotta panel featuring three devices, including the dolphins of Brighton’s coat-of-arms, and that of Hove. High up on the building is a leering gargoyle.
In 2004 the building was acquired by developers Redcliffe Kelmscott Partnership, who converted the fabulously extravagant depository into 20 live/work units.
